Lessons From Will Smith

Will smith outworked

Today I wanted to simply share a video I enjoyed watching recently. I’ve long admired Will Smith for a number of reasons. I came across a video someone made stitching together numerous interview clips of Smith talking about perseverance, work ethic, talent, and more.

Here are a few of the quotes that I particularly enjoyed:

If you’re not making someone else’s life better, you’re wasting your time.

Your life will become better by making other lives better.

I want to do good. I want the world to be better because I was here.

And I love his distinction between talent and skill. My friend RJ told me this a few years ago and it’s great to hear Will Smith’s take on it too. He said, Talent you have naturally. Skill is only developed by hours and hours and hours of beatin’ on your craft.”

The video is less than 10 minutes long. I think you’ll enjoy it. There’s one section I didn’t quote that really resonated with me. Watch the video to catch where he talks about his perspective of realism.

If you take some time to watch it, I’d love to know what you think. Just shoot me a note.
