For some reason I feel like sharing some things I intend to do in 2010. I've never really been one for resolutions but I do set "goals" to some degree of the word. Typically I just aim to achieve something but not particularly by a certain date. For 2010 I will keep that pattern and not really set dates for my personal goals. That said, here are some things I'm working on.
Family Time
This is something I'm still trying to figure out. I work around 65 hours a week simply because that's where I am in life right now. I have a beautiful wife and 18-month old who I don't see as often as I'd like. My wife is amazing and has grown accustomed to me staying up to work late and spending time in my home office during weekends. She fully supports me and there is no instance where she gets mad or upset at my time spent working. I, however, really wish I could spend more time with my girls. Lately I've just been starting to work after they are both in bed so as to spend as much time as possible with them. That can mean I'm up until 2am working though and that's not exactly healthy. I'm not sure what, if anything, will change about how I schedule out work time around family but I hope to continue to have the invaluable time with my wife and daughter as business grows.
Debt
This one is on many people's list and it makes perfect sense. I prefer to pay for things in cash these days and my personal budgeting skills have definitely grown stronger as I've continued to run a business. However that doesn't change the fact that I made some interesting decisions in the past. I'm going to continue to work my hiney off to get my debt zeroed out. I really don't have that long of a road compared to many people who would consider themselves in debt. In 2009 some friends and family, along with people like Larry Burkett and Dave Ramsey, had a significant influence on how I look at handling money. I intend to take what I've learned and raise the bar on how I focus on it.
Health
Due to my crazy schedule I haven't really paid much attention to staying healthy. I know from the advice of those more experienced than me that this can be a hard habit to break the older, I mean more experienced, you get. I'm really hoping to make some time to learn more about eating healthier, getting outside regularly to walk/jog/run etc. Heck I don't even have a primary care physician right now. Maybe I'll get one of those this year too.
Volunteer
This is a tough one. I really want to get out in my community and do more to help in various ways. What makes this hard, like everything else, is time. I simply don't have time to do anything on a regular basis. However, I'm hoping to find some opportunities to help out in various points during the year when I might have a slower week in business or less going on at church etc. I want to serve my community better so I'm going to find a way and the time.
Business
My business partner and I have some big plans for 2010 and we are very excited about executing them. This year should be our first year in which we feel some substantial growth in multiple areas. I'm hoping to find and utilize some good developers to start working with us so that I can spend more time on business stuff and ExpressionEngine development. There's more, but I'll talk about it as it comes this year.
How about you?
What's on your mind this year? How do you hope to better yourself?

That’s pretty cool. My business will be doing some additional work for not for profits this year which we are excited about. We started our first project for one last week. Our goal is to deliver a product similar to our corporate sites at a price as close to $0 as possible.
For community involvement I’d prefer to get away from my screens though. I think there’s a lot of personal growth opportunity in getting out of your comfort zone and serving in ways you haven’t before :)
