Take That Myspace Spammers!

As though Myspace didn’t have enough revenue they recently won a judgement against notorious spammers in the amount of $230 million. Personally I’m quite happy about this for a few reasons. The main reason is that this (hopefully) will make other spammers shy away from this type of behavior. I’m guessing that the spammers who think they’re ‘really good’ will just try to be better and get around this mess anyways. Either way, perhaps there will be less of the scantily clad ladies I’ve never met asking me to befriend them on Myspace.

I admit - I have always been one to tell my friends “No, don’t click that” or “No it’s not a real person asking to be your friend”. Then one day “I” left a message on a few friends pages promoting the latest free ringtone website. SAY WHAT!? My myspace account was hacked into? No…..no way. Well it happened so I changed my password to something quite crazy. It doesn’t affect me really - I hardly login to Myspace anyways. I digress.

MySpace said the pair sent more than 730,000 messages to MySpace members, many made to look like they were coming from trusted friends, giving them an air of legitimacy.
